Initiative by Milena Kowarik [CH] | Photo: Anthroposophical Prison Outreach
Through my work at the Social Initiative Forum, I got to know many amazing initiatives around the world. One of them was Anthroposophical Prison Outreach in the US.
I was deeply touched by the transformation of the incarcerated individuals after reading books from Rudolf Steiner through the Anthroposophical Prison Outreach. Anthroposophy becomes a tool for them to change their perspectives and biographies. For my birthday this year, I wish to ask your generous support for this worthy cause.
About APO (from anthroposophyforprisoners.org)
With 2.2 million people behind bars, the US has the highest percentage of the population incarcerated of any country in the world. Prison is generally viewed as a place to punish, rather than rehabilitate individuals who have committed crimes. Anthroposophical Prison Outreach, founded in 1999, recognizes that there are many, many individuals in prison who want to turn their lives around. They seek a new relationship to their spiritual self and the people around them and APO gives these individuals access to a spiritual path. Indeed, we can imagine Rudolf Steiner walking through a prison, entering each cell where a prisoner is studying anthroposophy and speaking to him or her through the printed words. Make a contribution here.
